We have carefully furnished and equipped our holiday house in Normandy to ensure maximum comfort and minimum hassle for our guests. The house is enjoyed by couples without children; while families with young children or babies can relax because the house has everything in place to suit their needs. On arrival at the house you will find the fridge cold, the water hot, heating on in winter, and the ability to make tea/coffee and have a meal with bottle of wine, pasta and sauce. There will be plenty of tea towels in the kitchen and bed linen will be folded at the end of each bed. You can start your holiday straight away! AccommodationAvailable all year round, the living room has a working open log fire, and the house is heated with convector heaters. The fitted kitchen is equipped with gas cooker, dishwasher and a washer/drier. There are three bedrooms - a large master bedroom, one twin and one bunks. The rooms have tiled or wooden floor with rugs and all the bedding is hypo-allegenic giving an environment that suits asthma sufferers. The Terrace and GardenDouble doors from the kitchen take you out to the private terrace, furnished with hard-wood garden furniture, bbq and two reclining chairs -it is great for watching sunsets. The garden is about 80 feet long, laid to lawn bordered by hedges each side and fenced at the bottom. Both are extremely safe for children and toddlers. Garden toys include climbing frame, swing ball, skittles, sandpit and paddling pool. Two pairs of adult bikes, available to our guests, are kept in the outbuilding. Those Little Extra TouchesWe have tried equip the house with "little extras" that make it a home from home. These include a transistor radio (able to receive Radio 4, Five Live, BBC Radio Devon and Radio Wales!), a telephone and fax for making and receiving calls, hair drier, iron and ironing board - not much used, flask and picnic rucksack, tupperware containers and a basic food processor. For those with babies and young children there is a changing mat, potty, baby listener, folding high chair, travel high chair and a stair gate. Pont L'Abbe, Picauville - The VillagePicauville is a friendly rural French village. The Friday market in the main square is great for local produce, especially cheeses. Visitors are made welcome at local fetes and events. The village offers everything that is needed for everyday living - two excellent butchers, two boulangeries (one is also a chololatier), two banks, a Super U supermarket and a small "open all hours" Proxi. In addition to the three bars and a Hotel-Restaurant various mobile food vans arrive in the main square most nights. Eric's Pizza on Wednesday produces excellent pizzas cooked in his wood burning oven on his van; Galettes on Saturday also look good. Surrounding Countryside, Beaches and AttractionsThe town is set in glorious countryside within the Cotentin Nature Park,in The Cotentin Peninsula, Manche, Normandy. It is a protected environment famous for birds and wild flowers. It is situated almost halfway between the west and east coasts - the closest beaches are the Landing Beaches with D-Day historical sites on the East coast (15 minutes drive). The West coast beaches (20 minutes) are great for surfing, sand-yachting and kite flying. Both coasts offer miles of unspoilt white sandy beaches with rock pools and horse riding. A great place for a holiday! In short - a holiday here can give you town and countryside, beaches, food and shopping, masses of recreation, history, music and culture, or rest and relaxation. The house is enjoyed by people of all ages and family situations. |
